Caleb Marquez

My professional career started in 2018 being drafted out of the 32nd round by the Milwaukee brewers. I played for two years in the organization. I played alongside some great ballplayers who are still to this day playing in the big leagues. My time there came to an end whenever Covid had its outbreak, shutting down spring training in 2020, The MLB decided to cut 32 minor league teams in order to save on money, I was to play on the team that was cut. From there I used what remaining eligibility I would’ve had in college and played at the university of Saint Cloud in Minnesota from 2020 through 2021. From there after recovering from an mcl and pcl surgery, I seemed to be at a wall in my career. I had little to no knowledge of independent ball, but i found a tryout for the frontier and pioneer league in Tuscon Arizona. I packed my bags and headed that way where i signed a contract in the pioneer league under the ownership of the Acereos de Monclova out of Mexico. I balled out for a month until sustaining a torn hamstring, but that was enough to open the door into Mexio. There I spent the winter of 2021 and the spring and part of the summer of 2022. In winter ball I played with the team’s best prospects, and role-playing guys from the big-league squad. There I earned an invitation to join the big-league team in spring training. From there they sent me to an academy in the jungle right outside of Monterey at the foot of a mountain, there I had no cell service, and a drastic change in norm. When I made it out of there in July, I signed into the draft league where I finished the 2023 season. the following year I signed a contract with Southern Maryland Blue Crabs in the American Association, where I took over as the starting catcher a month in, and got more than all the at bats I’ve had up to that point. Ending the 2024 season there. I signed a week contract with the Gateway Grizzlies in 2025 for about a week to support a depleted catching staff. There are many life lessons in that short amount of time, From Truly searching for God through Jesus in the jungle of Monterey, through finding out how much of my identity I wrap up in Baseball in Maryland. I seek to share everything I’ve gained and am continuing to go through in this game with all of my athletes. For the longest time finding jobs in between seasons has been miserable. There is nothing more I want to do than this, to help athletes and people on their journey. My Faith is Great is a reminder that we are more than the game, we are more than the gym, or our identity. God gifts us faith to help us through trial. We move with certainty here, Thanks to God.
